Claims Process

Preliminary:

  1. After any damage make sure your family is safe.
  2. Call your insurance carrier or call Parrot Public Adjusters immediately.
  3. All attempts should be made to protect your property from further damage.
  4. If possible, take as many photos, and document all damages.
  5. If it is necessary, make temporary repairs and save all receipts and invoices.
  6. Make an inventory of all damaged possessions, and locate receipts if available.
  7. Save any receipts from additional living expenses you occurred, while you were forced to live away from your home until repairs were completed.

Investigation:

  1. After our initial contact, we will inspect and review your damage and give you an expert assessment.
  2. We will analyze all policy provisions and stipulations as they relate to specifics such as:
    -Coverage
    -Limits
    -Deductibles
    -Exclusions
-Any other aspects of your insurance policy
  3. We will document all damages in detail, take several photographs, measurements, and establish any other responsibilities pertaining to the cause of damages. This will also include a detailed construction estimate, sometimes supported by engineering documents. A verified inventory schedule or technical support is sometimes needed for completion.
  4. Your claim is then filed that day or within 24 hours.

Processing:

  1. Your insurance carrier will appoint their adjuster to inspect the damages and coordinate with us for further follow-up.
  2. It is possible that other steps such as the need for an appraiser, mediator, umpire, or attorney may have to be involved.
  3. After the full extent of the damage has been determined and documented, the claim is reviewed by the insurance company's desk adjuster and given final approval for negotiation or settlement.

Negotiation & Settlement:

  1. Once the insurance company receives our professionally executed estimating documentations, this builds a respected position for a successful settlement.
  2. No claim is settled or agreed upon unless all parties are in 100% approval.
  3. Most claims are relatively simple, though sometimes we will be dealing with stubborn or unrealistic claims adjusters. If this happens, we will resort to more specialized negotiations to come up with a satisfactory settlement. As mentioned earlier, if the next steps using an appraiser or umpire have been unsuccessful, then we will recommend the possibility of legal action through lawsuit.
